Creating the right soil mix is imperative for overall plant health.
We recommend using a free draining mix that dries relatively quickly for most Trichocereus Species.
Mr Prickles Standard Mix consists of the following.
50/50 Mix (Organics/Inert)
50% Premium Potting Mix. (100 L)
25% Coarse Perlite. (50 L)
12.5% Coarse Scoria or Zeolite (25 L)
12.5 % Rockmineral (25 L)
You can also add other Amendments to the soil mix such as:
Shell Grit: ( Adds nutrients and helps with drainage) Note: Make sure you rinse well to remove fines and salt. Great addition for Lophophora Species and other rock eaters such as Ariocarpus.
Compost: ( Adds nutrients and retains water.) great addition for Pereskopsis and other more water tolerant plants.
Vermiculite: (Holds water and nutrients but is Inert/ Inorganic) another good addition for Pereskopsis.
Coconut Coir Fibre: Holds water and nutrients and is a good addition for Pereskopsis and other water tolerant Species.
